Hi, NW Ohio! My name is Roger Calvert and, like you, I am a Karaoke Junkie. I've been singing on stage since I was 5 years old, played in bands, went to college in music, and even wrote a few songs. I got into singing karaoke around 1990. I went to lots of shows and even ran some back then. Lately, I have started a new karaoke and DJ business called "Sounds Unlimited" and am starting to again develop a collection of CDG's. In this age of new technology, I have put all those discs on computer to make it easier to run the show and find the songs quicker. For the singers, disc #'s are no longer needed unless you have a particular manufacturer for your version of a particular song.
When I started out, I had lots of questions - what kind of computer do I need? What type of interfaces for audio and video should I use? What software will I use to run the show or manipulate the data? What's legal and what's not? I have answered most of these questions for myself and will share what I know as we go forward. I'm sure you will find your answers may be somewhat different than mine, but that's OK. There are certainly more and more alternatives in every category. We will try to examine the best and the worst and give you our thoughts.
